J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Lexus first in reliability, above the industry average. With 73 more problems per 100 vehicles, Genesis is ranked 22nd.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Lexus vehicles are more reliable than Genesis vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Lexus second in overall reliability. Genesis is ranked 14th.

The LS’ 3.4 turbo V6 produces 41 more horsepower (416 vs. 375) and 51 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 391) than the G90 3.5T’s standard 3.5 turbo V6. The LS’ 3.4 turbo V6 produces 7 more horsepower (416 vs. 409) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (442 vs. 405) than the G90 3.5T e-SC’s standard 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the LS 500 AWD gets better fuel mileage than the G90 3.5T e-SC 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 Hybrid (17 city/27 hwy vs. 17 city/24 hwy).

The LS has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the G90 (21.7 vs. 19.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Lexus LS, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the G90.

The LS stops shorter than the G90:

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the LS can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The G90 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition handles at .85 G’s, while the G90 3.5T e-SC pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

If the windows are left open on the LS the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. (This window function must be activated by your Lexus service department.) The driver of the G90 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The LS has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The G90 doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the LS has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The G90 doesn’t offer cornering lights. The LS also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.
